This notice explains how Verlagi Ltd(“Verlagi”, “we”) handles personal data on verlagi.co.uk, in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

What we collect, and why

• Submissions. When you submit a manuscript we collect your name, email address, and the material you send — your synopsis, sample, biography and any attached file. We use it for one purpose: assessing your work for publication and corresponding with you about it. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
• Enquiries. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address and message, and use them to reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, request time) for security and reliability. We do not run advertising trackers.

Where it lives

Submission and enquiry data is stored in our database and file store, hosted with DigitalOcean in the EU. Manuscript files are held privately and are accessible only to the people assessing submissions. We never sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.

How long we keep it

If we decline a submission, we retain the record for up to 12 months (so we can refer back if you resubmit or query the outcome) and then delete it. If we publish your book, submission data becomes part of our contractual records. Enquiries are retained for up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (including withdrawing a submission from consideration) at any time — email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

The site sets no marketing or analytics cookies. Anything strictly necessary for the site to function is used on that basis alone.
